A Sporting Life

Source Unknown

Les and Jill led a charmed life - whatever they wanted, they always managed to finance it through betting. Nice house, new car; and without need of a job. A trio of kids completed the scenario, and as they grew older, Les and Jill wondered if their "lucky streak" extended to the kids.

When their eldest, Albert, hit eighteen, Les introduced him to the world of racing, gave him £50, and left him to do the rest.
Off Albert went, and placed a series of bets at the greyhound track. Then he disappeared, only to be found much later in a dishevelled state.

"How did you get on?" asked his parents

. "I won every race, but those darned greyhounds still think I'm an electric hare!"
