Sunday 23rd of July 2006.  The Scottish Speedfair classics was held to celebrate 50 years of the SMRC  (Scottish Motor Racing club),  a festival celebrating the remarkable Scottish motor sport achievements over the past fifty years.

Rather than just being a Show of Classic cars, this event came with loads of extra`s including Linlithgow Pipe Band ( of course) .. Motor racing of classics, A parachute display, I Spitfire fly past .. And Special guest Former world champion driver Jackie Stewart ... united with his championship winning Tyrrell .. and driving the car around the Knockhill circuit.

But first lets look at some of the vintage and classic cars on display.

The weather at Knockhill was surprisingly good, although the sky looked overcast, the breaks in the cloud produced skin burning weather.  At Twelve noon a loud "Drone" was heard and all eyes turned to the heavens as the Spitfire`s  (the only one still flying and owned by a Welsh farmer)  Merlin engines pulled it into sight, and treated us to a 10 minute display of stunt flying.

The main event of the day took place soon after with Sir Jackie Stewart for the first time in almost 40 years, climbing in behind the wheel of his championship Tyrrell.  After completing a couple of laps of the Knockhill circuit, Jackie made time for signing autographs and chatting to fans

The attendance at the classic speedfair was good, estimated at around 40,000.  They were certainly kept entertained with Parachute displays and Classic car racing.
