Hi there and a very warm welcome to all readers new and old. You know I really can't believe the events that have taken place since our last edition just 8 weeks ago. The Crypt 19 went on line and Wendy and I flew off for a well deserved holiday in Tenerife.
The first week passed without incident, well, other than a tad too much sun on my back and shoulders, (Ouch!) and maybe a few too many drinks (Aaah). Tuesday the 11th September found us as usual in a nice little bar just round the corner from our apartment. As is normal in Spanish bars there was a very large wide screen television on, but without the sound, while the bars speakers blasted out typical Spanish holiday music.
I happened to glance up at the screen for a moment and to my surprise see a large airliner crash into a skyscraper tower only to followed a few minutes later by another airliner crash into an adjacent tower. I mentioned to Wendy to look at the screen and saying that "This looks like a good film".
Seconds later the whole scenario was repeated again and then the CNN News caption appeared on the bottom of the screen. The bar staff noticed it too and immediately switched off the music and diverted the television sound to the speaker system.
Yes the dreadful events in New York, and the Pentagon had now reached the Canary Islands. It goes without saying that the holiday atmosphere died too and did so for the remainder of our last week there!
Later on after returning home we all had our own personal tragic event. Our dog Ben had a heart attack and had to be put to sleep. That really cut us all up. We have always owned dogs, but once in a while there comes along a "special dog", one that is not just a house dog but a "friend" and a "member of the family".
I suppose it was because Ben was a rescue dog and we had saved him from a life time of abuse and ill treatment and gave him a new life full of love and care that it was just his way of saying thanks. Ben will be missed for a long time to come.
Well folks on a very much lighter note, but never the less not a good one, we are now losing AmigActive as a "Classic Amiga" magazine. To be trueful I could see this coming for many months. Lack of sales, lack of advertisers and the lack of Amiga related items to write about can only lead to one thing ... Closure!
I sure that many of the Amiga users that brought AmigActive will be disappointed too. I know I am. But folks whether you accept it or not the "Classic Amiga" died a long time ago. Most of you reading this via an Amiga will very likely have added so many add ons that your machine is now a hybrid between what was a "Classic Amiga" and a PC!
Fortunately none of this in any way affects The Crypt magazine. The team that produced The Crypt do so as a hobby. We don't work for profit, we work for the community. Provided our website visits and downloads remain as good as they are you can always rely on the magazine being produced. Please make a comment on our websites guest book and let us have your valuable opinions to act upon.
Finally let me end on a good note. The Crypt is celebrating its First Birthday this edition, so join us in the festivities, have a good laugh and read The Crypt.
