We are all aware of the effects of CO2 and carcenogenic chemicals on the human body - the government and various environmental bodies have made sure of that. Yet we still try and cram yet more people into our major cities with scant regard for the consequences of these actions. This is not good news for anyone who suffers from Asthma or other lung related illnesses, as more people mean more vehicles, and more pollution of the atmosphere.

It's good to see that buses are being converted to run on gas instead of diesel, so a start has been made to combat this unpleasant maladay, but the majority of heavy goods vehicles remain unconverted. Likewise, private cars also still rely on petroleum products to operate. Seldom is seen a service station sporting LPG pumps or charging sockets for electric cars; is this an indication that the powers that be aren't concerned with the welfare of all of us, or themselves? The motor industry have seen many break-throughs; from engines constructed from plastic to producing a fuel gas from water in a self contained unit. These innovations have not been well received by petroleum companies, unfortunately. PTFE oil additives producing lower co-efficients of friction for engines and gearboxes are, however, available. Good news for the vehicle owner who, with the constantly escalating price of fuel, needs to get the very best from their car.
There are a few simple measures to improve what you get from your vehicle, which are not beyond the average motorist. Running with the correct tyre pressures helps considerably. This reduces tyre wear, and the amount of fuel required to produce the same effort. A gentle accelleration will save an amazing amount of fuel - and reducing your top speed reduces the wind drag factor considerably. Another thing is to keep the air filter clean, and change those plugs that have dragged you on for years. An engine that can't breathe won't work effectively, and a clean burn of fuel increases economy.
Yes, you could have your vehicle converted to dual fuel - but bear in mind that this is expensive, and as mentioned before, LPG pumps are about as rare as hen's teeth. Nor does the government provide any incentive to do so.
In a report by the BBC concerning this pollutant maladay, it is suggested that the amount of premature deaths in the cities are linked to the amount of vehicle polutants about the cities. That's worrying! The point here is are we doing enough to combat the situation? If your vehicle isn't running right, you are not! The word is this; look after the environment - you owe it to your kids not to leave them a poisonous atmosphere in which to live!
