A List Of TestGear Projects Already Done.
By Barry Walker
Below is a list of test gear that I have developed for the classic AMIGA
range of computers. This includes WinUAE and up to OS3.9x...
I always require help and if anyone has any ideas or wants to participate
then I will welcome you with open arms. These projects take huge
quantities of time to build and write software for that any help is
most appreciated.
Useful Test Equipment To Date:-
Project Number. Type Of Test Gear. Capable Of Multitasking.
--------------- ------------------ ------------------------
1) Test Pattern Generator. Yes.
2) Signal Injector. Yes.
3) Sine/Square Generator. Yes.
4) Pulse Generator. Yes.
5) Stereo Function Generator. Yes.
6) Simple 5 Volt DC Voltmeter. Yes.
7) Audio Power Meter. Yes.
8) RF Sniffer. Yes.
9) Logic Probe. Yes.
9A) Games Port Logic Probe. Yes.
10) RF Power Meter. Yes.
11) Oscilloscope Calibrator. Yes.
12A) DC-100KHz Oscilloscope. No.
12B) Simple DC Vlotmeter. Yes.
12C) Simple Continuity Tester. N/A.
13) 8 Channel Logic Analyser. No.
14) 10 MHz Frequency Counter. No.
15) Simple Games Port Voltmeter. Yes.
16A) Multimode Radio Tone Encoder. Yes.
16B) DCS HW For 16A). No. (***)
17A) Data-Logger/Transient-Recorder. Yes. (***)
17B) WinUAE Version Of 17A). (Yes.)
18) WinUAE Analogue To Digital Converter. (Yes.)
19) WinUAE Version Of 7). (Yes.)
20) WinUAE Version Of 10). (Yes.)
21) WinUAE Compatible All Mode TestCard Generator.(Yes.)
Under developement at this point in time are:-
A) AFTS = Audio Frequency Test Set comprising of GUI controlled 10Hz to
10KHz function generator, harmonic distortion meter, AF frequency
counter, AC millivoltmeter and other plugins to work on both genuine
CLASSIC AMIGAs and WinUAE.
B) PWM D-A Converter using the games port OR parallel port.
C) Multichannel Programmable Time Switches for 'household' control of
heaters etc.
D) Numbers 16B) and 17A) above, (***). The manuals are unfinished for this
project as a large percentage of my time is taken up writing and building
for the mag'.
Minor Adaptor Cables:-
A1000-Parallel-Adaptor. (This magazine Issue. :)
A600 Games Port Adaptor cable. (Coming Soon. :)
WinUAE Games Port Cable. (For my WinUAE-ADC.lha project. Coming Soon. :)
Here Is A List Of Potential TestGear For The Future.
Audio Harmonic Distortion Meter/SINAD Meter.
Multimeter. PROBABLY IMPOSSIBLE.
RF Voltmeter. THIS WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT TO CALIBRATE, (The RF Probe
is already built).
AC Milli-Voltmeter. 10Hz TO 1MHz, 10mV OR BETTER SENSITIVITY.
RF Spectrum Analyser, (or Panoramic Adapter). 100KHz TO 1.5GHz OR MORE,
BANDWIDTH DOWN TO 2.5KHZ OR LESS, THIS WILL BE VERY, VERY DIFFICULT.
Games Port Multimeter. PROBABLY IMPOSSIBLE, (This is under developement
and WILL be a NON ISOLATED ~Bench Multitester~).
Synthesised RF Signal Generator. WILL BE FOR THE AMATEUR BANDS ONLY.
Modulation Meter. FM/AM, FM MODE WILL BE HARD.
Marker Oscillator. PROBABLY 455KHz, 1MHz, 10MHz, 10.7MHz, 21.4MHz
AND OTHERS.
Wide Band Thermometer. FOR SCIENTIFIC MEASUREMENTS.
Pressure Sensor. SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF SUITABLE TRANSDUCER.
Light Meter. FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS.
Audio Spectrum Analyser. 100Hz TO 12KHz, 512 POINT FFT,
THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE AVAILABLE, HARDWARE UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
Revolution Counter. FOR HIGH ROTATIONAL SPEEDS.
Etc... etc... etc...
(Not testgear or scientific related.)
Model Railway Controller. 14 fully programmable I/O lines and 2 + 2 I/P
only lines to control various sections of a model railway including any
ADCs or DACs as required. (Fully STANDARD A500 OS1.3x compatible.)
These projects take a considerable amount of time to develop and build but
I will eventually get there in the end. If anyone has any ideas for other
testgear or scientific projects then let me know via Email, see below.
Calibrated versions of a Project? will be for the AMIGA A1200, although
they will work on the A500, A500(+) and A600 also but NOT calibrated.
Calibration information is/will be included with all projects. Some will
be capable of working on WinUAE. Most will work from OS1.3x, but some will
need OS2.0x or greater...
