Bluetooth for a car

By Ian Urie

Well, my little Jabra headset/ earpiece bit the dust recently.
I was devastated!
It had served me well for many months, more than I can recall actually.
However, the little piece of plastic that kept it attached to my ear broke, and there was no viable way to repair it.

I tried  a spare bluetooth earpiece that was handy, but it just wasn't the same.
I was too used to the Jabra and I found fault with the replacement, finding it didn't sit comfortably and the volume levels weren't as good.

There's always a silver lining, though, and HotUKdeals came to my rescue.
Someone wrote in about a unit available cheaply (on the Play.com site).

This wasn't an earpiece but a unit that clipped to the sun visor.
The unit is called the Supertooth Visor Lite
In fact, the offer is still on, if anybody's interested.
It can be found by clicking on the grab.

The unit is simplicity to use.
It comes with a clip that fits onto the visor.
The back of the bluetooth unit has two magnets which allow you to clip it to the clip.
The unit itself has the two buttons on the front, accept/reject buttons, and two others on the edge of the unit to adjust the volume.

So, is it any good?
It's excellent, in fact, a couple of mates on seeing it, bought one each as well.
To date, all of us are extremely happy with it.
The battery life of the unit is good, 15 hours talk time and 800 hours standby.
The sound from the speaker is loud enough for me (I don't have it tuned up fully), and the noise cancelling works well on it.
I always have either the radio or the CD playing in the car and people can be heard while they are playing in the background and I'm talking.
You switch the unit on by pressing on the microphone stack which springs out from the side, switching off is simply pushing the mic back in.
That's it, really, it simply works, as all good technology does.
I highly recommend these units.
I couldn't go back to the earpiece now!
An excellent piece of kit that does exactly what it says.
